Our Coaches

Scott Lennox

Head Coach - Green

Scott returned to running in 2002, 37 years after he last ran in college. He was convinced by a good friend and fellow John Hancock associate to run the 2003 Boston Marathon together through the company program. Completing the race was a life changing experience. Scott has now run 50 marathons including 14 Boston Marathons. He began coaching with BostonFit as an assistant 10 years ago and has been head coach of the Green Team for the last 8 years. In 2009, his daughter, Beth, began running and they have completed many races together including 19 marathons to date, most memorably the 2014 Boston Marathon, as well as coaching together for the past 6 years. In recent years, both his niece Rebecca and daughter Mandy have taken up the sport, expanding his running family.  His greatest rewards from running and coaching with Beth have been the shared experiences with his family and the many friends he has made through the years.

Beth Lennox

Organizer - Co-organizer + Green Assistant Coach

Beth has been running since 2009 when she “caught the bug” from Coach Dad. Since then, she has completed 22 marathons and many shorter races, and she and her father are now working on their sixth year as a coaching duo for both BostonFit and the Hale Reservation Boston Marathon team.  Her favorite marathons so far include the Hartford Marathon (her first), Louisiana Marathon (Baton Rouge), Madison Marathon (WI), and Rehoboth Beach Marathon (DE), though the most meaningful to her was the 2014 Boston Marathon.  Aside from coaching with her father, Beth’s favorite thing about running is the fantastic people she has met through the sport, and she is looking forward to another great season with the BostonFit crew!

Aime Macdonald

Organizer - Co-organizer + Yellow Head Coach

Aime has been running since the days of racing other kids at the bus stop in elementary school, later running competitively in high school and college. Upon moving to Boston for grad school, and witnessing her first marathon in person, she did what most people do (right?), signed up for her hometown race, the New York Marathon! She has completed 10 marathons, countless races of other distances, racked up some weird race bling, overcome many an injury and met amazing friends along the way! She joined Boston Fit in 2007 and this is her third year coaching. She loves helping runners get over the limitations they put on themselves and enjoys post run meals. She has an unhealthy obsession with her favorite sports teams and is a proud runNerd!

Sarah Tannenbaum

Assistant Coach - Yellow Group

Sarah started running as part of her recovery from knee surgery in 2013. She did the Couch to 5k app and then never stopped running. After speaking to a friend who had run two marathons with BostonFit, Sarah decided to join the team in the summer of 2016. Even though she’d never run a distance race, Sarah set herself the crazy goal of training for a marathon. She thought, I’ll check running a marathon off my bucket list and then retire from running. So Sarah joined BostonFit and ran with the yellow team. Little did she know the addictive nature of marathon running! Now she’s run 3 marathons and is looking forward towards her first summer of coaching. Sarah knows firsthand how empowering training with the BostonFit group is, and she looks forward to sharing her love of running with new and veteran BostonFit runners!

Erin McGrath

Head Coach - Red

Erin is running her ninth marathon this year – she’s lost count of her 5ks, 10ks, halfs and other weirdo distances.  She loves running because she truly believes that anyone who wants to run, can, and is always thrilled to get her friends running with her. Erin’s training philosophy is that even a bad run is good for teaching you something, and that you can always work in a few more hills. This is her eighth year running with USAFit Boston.

Julie Merritt

Assistant Coach - Red

Julie started running in 2006 and joined USAFit Boston for the 2007 season. She has run 11 marathons, and many half marathons, and 10Ks. Running has taught her to be grateful for what the body and mind can achieve, through patience, hard work and determination. She has learned to accept that each running day is different, and that a bad run is just as important as a good run. Her favorite book on running is Haruki Murakami’s, “What I Talk About When I Talk About Running”.

Rebecca Chaplick

Head Coach - Purple/Half

Rebecca started running with BostonFit in 2014, and trained with the Purple team that season for her first half marathon. Since that time, she has fallen in love with the sport, and has run 20 half marathons and 2 full marathons. Her favorite part of running is the camaraderie and support she gets from her fellow runners, and the feeling of accomplishment that comes from crossing a finish line after putting in a season’s worth of hard work during training. She is excited for her second year as Purple team head coach and helping others reach their running goals!

Rebecca “Shandi” Foulger

Assistant Coach - Purple/Half Group

Shandi started running in 2011 when she moved to Boston, and quickly found herself craving longer and longer distances. She found USAFit Boston in 2013, and has trained with both red and purple. So far, she has completed 4 marathons, and 11 half marathons. While she loves race day, she often finds training for a race to be more rewarding than the race itself, especially with a supportive and encouraging group like this one. This is her second year coaching, and she’s looking forward to helping more runners find joy in their runs and reach their goals.

Robin Dawson

Head Coach - ATP

Robin joined USAFit Boston in 2010 after moving to Boston and has run with the Advance Training Program (ATP) since then. Robin first started running in high school and has continued to make running a part of his life. Robin started coaching the ATP group in 2012 and has helped many runners improve their marathon times, many of whom have qualified for the Boston Marathon through the ATP program. The extra conditioning and preparation of the ATP group is perfect for people with running experience who want to improve their marathon performance.
