Years Running: 24 years. I was a couch potato growing up, then one day, a high school friend changed my life, by suggesting we go for a short “jog”. I’ll never forget running in my keds! (don’t run in keds!). My life changed again on the day of the Boston Marathon in 1993, when a coworker challenged me to run a marathon, and I took him up on it! I got the book, “the Lore of Running” (it’s like the Enclopedia Brittanica!) and trained alone for that marathon. I’ll never forget that experience, or any of the marathons I’ve run!

Years Running w/ Boston Fit: 7 years

Running Philosophy: Running is both a solo and a community activity. It’s a solo activity because only you can do it, and only you can take credit for what you accomplish. But running is so much more fun and easier to do with others. It’s also an activity that clears the mind and provides for great conversations on long runs! I’ve made more friends running with people than almost any other way (other than over a few beers).

Favorite Run/Race: Mt Washington Auto Road Race. First, because I LOVE running uphill and really don\'t love running downhill. Second because the people who run the Mt. Washington Auto race are among the craziest on the planet, and I feel totally at home with that! (like I finally found my kindred spirits)

Favorite non-running Boston Fit tradition/event/activities: I have done a lot of cheering for members at a lot of finish lines. It is rewarding and satisfying for me to watch others achieve their goals and feel good!

Name one thing every runner should know about: It is in our nature to run. I truly believe it feels good to our inner soul to run. My 2 year old always runs, never ever walks or even goes slow... (unless I want him to go fast). I think this natural inclination of children to run demonstrates that we all need to respect our \"inner running child\".

How many marathons have you run: 11

Which marathon are you training for: My boys and managing Boston Fit keep me busy - I\'m considering the Newport Half as a first adventure back to distance running.

Goals for the 2010 Boston Fit Season: Through our fabulous coaching crew, inspire members in all groups to stick with their goals, be it a half marathon, a full marathon, their first marathon, or a triathlon. I’d like to do a little bit of running myself this season!
